More than a prescription
What we look for
Vision and eye health are about more than short- or long-sightedness. We photograph the retina, measure eye pressure and the visual field – and we test binocular vision.

Home test
The Amsler grid
- 1Hold the grid about 45 cm from your eye, with reading glasses if you use them.
- 2Cover one eye and look at the dot in the centre.
- 3Are the lines straight and the squares equal? Are any areas missing?
- 4Repeat with the other eye.
- If lines look wavy, bent or blurred, it can be a sign of changes in the retina. Contact an optician or doctor promptly.
